Frequently asked questions

Question : Do we need to glue the belly seals?

Answer : No, you don't. The seal has 2 small protrusions which interlock with 2 indentations in the groove of the body. This form-fit allows you to install the seal without glue and guarantees a perfect placement.

Question : When should the belly seals be replaced?

Answer : Replacing the belly seals is depending on the amount of active running hours. We recommend changing them during every service cycle with, at the minimum, a change every 12 months.

Please ensure to check the FAQ “Are there any recommended spare parts for PTD’s?” as well.

Question : Can I get a different Belly seal, other than the current silicone version?

Answer : No, we only have the silicone (static and inflatable) belly seals execution.

Question : Can I replace seals with access to only 1 of the 2 covers while still being in the system?

Answer : No, you need to remove the bearing cover and arrow assembly from both sides.

Question : Can we change the seals from static to inflatable seal?

Answer : If you have ordered a PTD with the option “inflatable seal ready” you can upgrade the PTD with an upgrade kit to a version with inflatable seals. Please contact our aftersales department for more information.

Question : Are there any recommended spare parts for PTD’s?

Answer : Yes, our PTD has several parts we classified as Recommend Spare Parts. As the name states, we recommend you have these on stock to be used during every service & maintenance cycle.

Do you need Spare Parts for you PTD? Or do you want DMN-WESTINGHOUSE to take care of service & maintenance at your (production) facility? Please contact our aftersales department.

More information on the recommended spare parts can be found in the “Other Downloads” section of this technical support page.

Question : Can the position sensors be installed on the other side of the PTD?

Answer : Yes, the end covers have threaded holes on either side allowing for a quick switch of the position sensors.

For more information please refer to the manual (chapter 10.4.2.7 RELOCATE POSITION SENSOR).

Question : Can a non ATEX diverter valve be upgraded to ATEX certified equipment?

Answer : Please contact our aftersales department for more information regarding the upgrade of a non-ATEX diverter valve to a non-ATEX to an ATEX Eq diverter valve..

Question : Do I need special tools to service the PTD?

Answer : No. Basic tools are sufficient.

Question : Switch during product flow

Answer : No, this will result in wear on seals and the PTD,
